Mrs. Bessie "Beth" Elizabeth Hill

HILL, Bessie Elizabeth “Beth”, after a lengthy battle with cancer passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2015 at her home in Mulberry, Al surrounded by her family. She was laid to rest Sunday, December 27, 2015 Ivy Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery with Pastors Richard Lucas and Lance Eiland officiating. Beth was born January 28, 1936 in Hillsboro, GA., to Elbert and Bernice Gibbons and had three brothers and two sisters. She graduated from Russell High School in East Point, GA in 1954 where she was Senior Class President, editor of her school newspaper and majorette captain. On March 11, 1955 she married C. Richard Hill. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary earlier this year. Their lives together took them to VA, MD, NJ, FL and AL with their four children, David, Susan, Michael and Scott. Beth was a strong and gentle person; a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was active in her church and community. She is survived by her husband, Richard, her two sons David (Deb), Scott and daughter Susan; four grandchildren Mandy Whitworth, David Hill, Jr. (Holley), Chris Hill (Samantha) and Samantha Pauley (Danny); great grandchildren Michael Hill and Anna Marie Hill. She is also survived by two brothers, B. W. Gibbons (Jackie), Tommy Gibbons and two sisters, Mary Ellen Stokes (George), Debbie Underwood and nieces and nephews.

Beth was preceded in death by her son, Michael Charles and her brother Gene. Pallbearers were sons David, Scott, grandsons David Jr., Chris, friends Jimmy Burnette and Tom Allen.
