Betty Godfrey Ware, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 in Prattville, Alabama. She was 92 years old. She loved her church and she loved her Savior, whom she was ready to meet face to face. The family will receive friends Saturday, December 15th from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church Prattville with the funeral service at 2:00 PM with Dr. Travis Coleman, Pastor Dave Burns and Pastor Randy Godfrey officiating. Burial will follow at Prattville Memorial Gardens.
Born July 11, 1926, at home in Society Hill, Alabama, Betty was the youngest of five children of Claude and Minnie Godfrey. She worked for Bell (South Central Bell) Telephone Company for many years in Tuskegee, Alabama. When her husband moved the family to Prattville in 1963, as a faithful wife, she worked with him at his business, Prattville Auto Parts until his death in 1987. To her grandchildren and great grandchildren, she was the source unconditional love and grandmotherly concern. While she had many amazing qualities, Betty's spiritual gifts were definitely that of caregiver and hospitality. For many years she cared for her elderly parents. She also cared for her oldest daughter, Brenda, before she died of cancer in 1992. Her home was opened to more people than we can count. Many young people, from her daughter's friends to her grandchildren's friends, were always welcome.
"She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: "Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all." Proverbs 31:27-29
