

CECIL CLYDE COX went to be with his LORD in death on April 2023. He was born October 6, 1924 in Billingsley, Autauga County, Alabama. He served in the Marine Corps in World War II in the South Pacific. He was also a dedicated employee of Moncriefs in Prattville for 47 years. He served as a Deacon and was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church for over 65 years.
Cecil loved God, his family, his church, and basically, anyone he met. He was always giving of himself as well as anything he had. Hebrews 13:16, says, "But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased." Giving was never a sacrifice for Cecil, but a source of joy as he lived it, believed it and shared it every day in serving the God who graciously gave to him.
Cecil was preceded in death by his parents John J Cox and Jennie Lee (Weldon) Cox; Bertha DeRamus Cox his wife of 53 years; and son, Bruce O'neal Cox. He has two daughters, Janice Cleveland (David) of Pearlington, MS and Annette Gladden (Larry) of Prattville, AL; eight grandchildren John Michael Rhodes of Pelham, NC, Steve Rhodes of Prattville, AL, Lori Boatright of Ft. Gibson, OK; Dava Sue Cleveland, Jackson, MS; Rea Lenz; San Antonio, TX; Denise Gladden of Huntsville, AL, JoAnn James of Helena, AL and Larry R Gladden of Jackson, MS. He also has 16 great grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren. In later life he married Glenda Dawson Cox who also preceded him in death. Her children are Annette Todd (Dewey), Gina Moore (Gordon) and Andrew (Buddy) Dawson.
A graveside service for Cecil will be Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at 1:00 PM at New Cedron Baptist Church.
