

COBERN, Raymond Charles, 77, a Prattville resident, passed away Sunday July 22, 2012. Visitation will be begin at 12:00 PM followed by funeral services at 2:00 PM on Wednesday July 25, at the Prattville First Baptist Church with Dr. Travis Coleman and Pastor Dave Burns officiating. Burial will follow in Prattville Memorial Gardens with Military Honors. Mr. Cobern was born on January 8, 1935 to the late Raymond E. and Elena Thrailkill Cobern. He was a retired supervisor with Union Camp Paper Company with 30 years of service, a U.S. Army veteran, a 50 year member of the Prattville Masonic Lodge and a faithful 30 year member of the Gideon’s International. He loved gospel singing and was highly active in many civic affairs but will always be remembered as a Christian model of what a husband and father should be. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 58 years, Willodean, a son and daughter-in-law: David and Emily Cobern, a daughter; Diane Burkhalter, five grandchildren; Jason Hittenrauch, Ashley (Chris) Barnes, Tyler Williams, Charlie Cobern ,Ally Cobern and a sister: Ann Hutchins. Active Pallbearers will be Jason Hittenrauch, Tyler Williams, Charlie Cobern, Ron Bryant, Charles Perry and Lawrence Banks. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Bruce Ward Sunday School Class and fellow Gideons. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Wellness Foundation of Central Alabama, the Gideon’s International or to the Prattville First Baptist Church.
