Dave’s greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Martha, and their nine children: Sarah(Joe), Rebekah (David), Rachel (BJ), Anna (Andrew), David, Lydia (Leander), Leah (Cliff), Jonathan, and Benjamin (Emily). He is also survived by two sisters, Naida Wirgau Bruder and Lisa Wirgau. Dave cherished being a grandfather to 11 grandchildren, with one more on the way: Miles, Jace, and Aisley Aber, Elijah, Gracie, and Mackenzie Joy Chandler, Layla, Isabelle, Josiah, and Caleb Pendleton, Abraham Dailey, and baby Shedd due in October.
Dave served as a missionary with The Navigators since 1983, impacting countless lives both on college campuses and in East Asia. His commitment to spreading the Gospel and his love for others knew no bounds.
Two memorial services will be held to honor David's life: one at Northwoods Church on Friday, March 8th at 1 pm, and another at Lowndesboro Baptist Church on Saturday, March 9th at 2 pm, with a graveside service following at Oakview Cemetery.
Papa Dave was deeply loved by many because he deeply loved so many others. He will be fondly remembered by his family and friends. His life was a testament to the power of God's grace and the impact that one person can have on the world for His kingdom.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Dave Wirgau Legacy Fund for Navigators World Missions in his memory. Please visit: www.floridanavs.org/dave
