

Life Celebration Ceremonies were held Tuesday May 5, 2015 at 10:00 AM Ridout's Prattville Chapel with the Reverend Randy Tucker officiating. Don was laid to rest with his comrades in arms at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, Alabama with military honors.
Don was born April 1, 1963 at Holloman AFB, New Mexico to Charles Eugene Ruffin and Donnie S. Harding Ruffin. He was a U.S. Army combat veteran with 19 years of active service. During his time in the army he served in Panama during Operation Just Cause and Kuwait as part of Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm where he was engaged in heavy combat actions against the Iraqi Army's Republican Guard. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for valor and received many other awards and citations for service above and beyond the call of duty. His other overseas posting include service in Europe and South America. Don was an avid reader and spoke many different foreign languages. He loved music, sports, animals and spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his mother, Donnie S. Ruffin of Prattville; his father, Gene Ruffin of Montgomery; a sister Julie Ann Ruffin of Dallas; two nieces, Jennifer Hendricks of Calera, Alisa Ruffin of Mesquite, Tx. and a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project
