Donald Leon Sherbert, age 84, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2025 at Prattville Baptist Hospital. He was born July 18, 1941. He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Geneva Sherbert. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Evelyn Sherbert. Also survived by his faithful dog, Maggie.
He was a master in wood carving. He could carve anything out of wood with his favorite being Mallard ducks. His best accomplishment in carving, which he was very proud of, carving the Auburn War Eagle for Pat Dye when he retired. It still stands at Auburn University today. He also made several walking canes for local nursing home residents. He loved working with his flowers in his yard.
He was a Shriner for over 50 years and made several trips taking children to the Children's Shriner Hospital. He was a master Mason in Millbrook Hamden Sidney Lodge number 67 for over 50 years.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, 11:00 AM at St Marks Episcopal Church with Rev. Brad Landry officiating.
