

Frances Mills Golson passed away on January 13, 2016, at Charlton Place in Prattville, AL. She was 96 years old, having been born in Elmore County, Alabama, on January 2, 1920. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, James Franklin Golson, her parents Jessie Beatrice Macon Mills and Philip Grady Mills, and her only sister, Philipa Mills Rawlinson.
She is survived by her five children: James Philip (Nancy) Golson, Auburn, AL; Penelope Golson (Stanley) Seago, Prattville, AL; Franklin Eugene (Kay) Golson, Birmingham, AL; David Andrew (Kathy) Golson, Prattville, AL; and Charles Timothy Golson, Sedona, AZ. Grandchildren: Brian (Alisa) Golson, San Francisco, CA; Neil (LesLeigh) Golson, San Francisco, CA; Amber Ivey (Greg) Bostwick, Mobile, AL; Tray (Kirstie) Ivey. Birmingham, AL; Drew Golson (Meghan Hawkins), Birmingham, AL; Matt Golson, Atlanta, GA; Mollie Golson (Justin Thrash), Calera, AL; Abbey Golson, Auburn,
AL; and Hayley Golson, Montgomery, AL. Three Step-grand Children: Angie Seago, Kayla (William) Kyle, and Jenna Groome, Ten Great Grandchildren, t wo Step-great Grandchildren, a n d many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Frances was a devoted daughter, wife and mother. She grew up in Prattville, and graduated from Autauga County High School and Massey-Draughon Business School. She lived with her parents in Prattville until her husband James returned from military service . After his World War II service Frances and James moved to his family farm in the Evergreen Community in rural Autauga County. There she was active in the Home Demonstration Club, Evergreen Baptist Church and Hicks Memorial School in Autaugaville. They later moved to Prattville where she was active in First Baptist Church and Autauga Academy. She was very proud that all five of her children received degrees from Auburn University.
Frances was an avid reader and she loved to travel with her husband and son Charles throughout the United States. She had a phenomenal memory and loved matching wits with contestants on the TV show Jeopardy.
Funeral services were held 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 16,2016 at Prattville First Baptist Church.
Burial followed at Memory Gardens. Pallbearers were her grandsons.
