

George Arauz, 84, of Prattville, Alabama (formerly California), passed away on Tuesday, 29 March 2022 at Prattville Baptist Hospital.
He was born on 2 June 1937 in Puntarenas, Costa Rica, to Alfredo Arauz and Hilde (Aerota-Shober) Arauz. He has 3 children, Wendee, Susie, and George Jr. After graduating from University in Puntarenas, George moved to the United States in 1957 and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1958. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. During his time in the military, he became a naturalized citizen of the United States. After serving in the military, he went on to work for several newspaper companies in California until his retirement in 2003. He had several passions throughout his life including running, cycling, remote control boats/planes, and was a seasoned glider pilot.
George is survived by his daughters Wendee Wingo (Brett), Susie Walters (Brady), and son George Arauz Jr.; grandchildren Michael Rojas, Sean Walters (Gabby), Xavier Arauz, Mia Arauz, and sister Lydiette Timmermans (Arauz).
He was preceded in death by his parents Alfredo and Hilde Arauz, and brothers Alfredo and Rodolfo Arauz.
