

CROWE, George E. “Pete”, 72, a lifelong Autauga County resident, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Friday February 12, 2016. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 AM Monday February 15th at Ridout’s Prattville Chapel with Pastor Reggie Evans officiating. Burial with Masonic Rites will follow in the Booth Cemetery.
Pete was born on November 8, 1943 to the late George and Mary Crowe. He was a founding member of the Booth Volunteer Fire Department and actually built the department’s first fire station. In his many years of service with the BVFD he served in every capacity including Assistant Chief and Chief. He was a sheet metal worker by trade and was a member of the Sheet Metal Union # 48 in Birmingham for many years. Pete was a longtime and dedicated member of the Prattville Masonic Lodge # 89 and the Booth United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Jimmie Sue of Booth; a son and daughter in law, Pete (Jr.) and Eve Crowe of Booth; a daughter Susan Crowe of Booth; three grandchildren, Hailey Crowe (and fiancé’ Huey Conway), Kimberly Crowe, Trevor Atcheson and a an “adopted” grandson, Phillip Murray; two sisters, Mary Moore and Beth Joiner both of Prattville; three brothers and two sisters in law, David and Rosemary Crowe of Prattville, James and Laura Crowe of Wetumpka, Bobby Crowe of Prattville; two sisters in law Faye (Mark) Hempstead, Quinn (Richard) Simoncini, all of Gulf Shores and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Life blessed Pete with many friends, too numerous to name all.
Pallbearers will the members and fellow firefighters of the Booth Volunteer Fire Department. The family would like to extend a special word of thanks to Dr. Jade Hoy and staff for their care and love for Pete. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made the BVFD 1701 County Road 10, Booth, Alabama 36008.
