

James Irvin Hancock Jr., age 82 passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Irvin Hancock Sr and Sarah Marjorie Hancock and his grandson, Landon Wayne Pace. He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Brenda Rawlinson Hancock; daughters, Lisa Faye Hinson (Stan), Brenda Gail Pace and Jimmie Lynn Barry (Paul); grandchildren, Lindsay Brouillard (Rick), Leah Bryson (Craig), Abigail Pace, Brenna Owen (Dusty), Garrett Headley (Meredith), Madolynn Headley; great grandchildren, Landon Pace Jr., Kylie Thomas , Logan Brouillard, Lawson Brouillard, Sawyer Pace, Coleman Bryson, Rilen Owen, Lane Brouillard; siblings, Marjorie Marvin (Willie), Leon Hancock (Charlene), Van Hancock and Garry Hancock (Yvonne). He is also survived by a large extended family.
Mr. Hancock was known for his wonderful storytelling, he was known to have a story for every occasion. He was also a "jack of all trades" and he mastered those trades. He had an amazing sense of directions and never needed GPS. He could easily find his way to a place he had not been to in over 50 years. He loved his wife Brenda and family dearly. He loved his grandchildren and was always one to hold his grandbabies. He will be deeply missed.
A visitation for Mr. Hancock will be held Tuesday, May 21, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Ridout's-Brown-Service Prattville, 347 East Main Street, Prattville, AL 36067, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM also at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Mt. Zion/Rawinson Cemetery, Prattville, Alabama.
The family would like to thank Baptist Hospice, nurse Lena Purvis and Ms. Brenda for the wonderful care they provided over the last several months.
