

WARD, Mabel M., 96, a lifelong Autauga County resident, passed away Thursday May 12, 2016. Visitation will be held Sunday May 15th from 2:00 PM to 3:15 PM at Ridout’s Prattville Chapel followed by a graveside funeral service at 3:30 PM in Oak Hill Cemetery with Pastors Barry Kornegay and Reggie Evans officiating.
Mrs. Ward was born in Booth, Alabama on December 15, 1919 to the late David Washington Mills and Rusha Elvira Franklin Mills. During World War II she volunteered to serve as a motor pool chauffer at the various military posts where her husband, Everett was stationed during his service with the U.S. Army Air Corp. She and Mr. Ward were longtime members of the Prattville First United Methodist Church. For years Mrs. Ward was highly active in many activities as she traveled the world with her military husband including PTA, serving as a Girl Scout leader and Sunday school teacher. She loved to read and play dominos.
Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband of over 60 years, Everett B. Ward. She is survived by two daughters, Wanda Ferris and her husband, Steve of Deatsville, Connie Ward of Prattville; two grandsons, Stephen Ferris and his wife, Faby of Anchorage, Alaska, Kenneth Ferris and wife Bianca of Denham Springs, Louisiana; four great grandchildren, Garrett, Delaney, Savannah, Constance and a host of nieces, nephews and other close relatives and friends.
Active pallbearers will be Kenneth Ferris, Glen Golson, Patrick Kornegay, Jay McMichael, Rocky Milton and Brett Golson. Honorary pallbearers will be Norman Mills, Jimmie Mills, Robert Mills, Sammy Avery, Danny Avery and Ken Barrett.
The family wishes to thank the loving caregivers for their endearing love and devotion to Mom: Mae Ward, Gladys Hunter, Ernestine Love, Daisy Shelton, Sandi Absher, Joan Lockhart, Annie Stone, Sheila Wingo and the staff of Amedysis Hospice. 1 Corinthians 13; "Love is very patient and kind, never jealous or envious, never boastful or proud, never lofty or selfish or rude. If you love someone you will be loyal to him no matter what the cost. All the gifts and power from God will someday come to an end, but love goes on forever ".
