Richard Thomas Potter, 83, of Prattville, passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2017. Visitation will begin Saturday at 1:00 PM at the Open Door Baptist Church followed by a Celebration of Life service with Military Honors at 2:00 PM in the church sanctuary. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Potter was born on December 8, 1934 in Anniston, Alabama to the late Lawrence and Nettie Pitts Potter. He was a retired U.S. Air Force veteran with 20 years of service. After his retirement from the Air Force, he worked for and retired from the Dana Corporation with 20 years of service. Mr. Potter was very active for many years at the Open Door Baptist Church where he served as a greeter.
He will always be remembered for his kindness and willingness to help anyone in need.
He is preceded by his wife Anne. He is survived by his daughter and son in law, Melody and Doug Stanley; grandsons Eric and Jason Stanley; a brother, Larry Potter and a niece, Kathy Gardner.
Pallbearers will be Eric Stanley, Kaleb Stodola, Matt Swafford, Ben Lane, Mike O’Bryant.
