GOODWIN, Roger Jackson, M/SGT USAF Retired, age 71 and resident of Prattville, AL passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2010. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 2, 2010 at 11:00 AM from Ridout’s Prattville Chapel with USAF Chaplain officiating. Committal service will follow at 2:00 PM in Alabama National Cemetery, Montevallo, AL with full Military Honors. Survivors include his wife, Mary Frances Goodwin; children, Ann (Timothy) Mitchell, Mary (Robert) Boice, Brenda (Johnny) Reed, Roger (Renee) Goodwin, Jr., Michael (Hope) Goodwin, Steve Goodwin and Ricky Kent; twenty grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Bob Goodwin; two sisters, Nancy Deering and Dorothy Wellman. Mr. Goodwin was an avid fisherman and was one of the oldest to complete the Police Academy. He served three tours of duty in Vietnam, serving as a Motion Picture Camera Technician. After his career in the USAF, he worked and retired from the Department of Corrections. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
