Sarah Burns Mitchell

MITCHELL, Sarah Burns, 80, of Prattville, went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 20, 2017. Visitation was held Sunday October 22nd at 2:00 PM at the Prattmont Baptist Church followed by her Celebration of Life at 3:00 PM in the church sanctuary with Pastor Randy Tucker officiating. Burial followed in Prattville Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Mitchell was born on October 22, 1936 to the late George Clinton Burns and Eunice Stewart Burns. She was a registered nurse with over forty two years of service to the Prattville Baptist Medical Center. After she retired, she continued to care for the people in the community and to needs of others. She loved the Lord and was a devoted member of the Prattmont Baptist Church where she was a choir member. She was a lifetime TOPS member. She will always be remembered for her kindness to everyone.

She is survived by her son, Johnny Ray Mitchell of Pine Level; two daughters and sons in law; Twana (Jimmy) Herman of Marbury, Anita (Richard) Greenlee of Prattville; a brother, Jerry (Judy) Burns of Pell City; three sisters, Faye (Ralph) Dewey of Wetumpka, Dean (Lou) Wiggins of Griffin, Georgia, Jean Hansford of Knoxville, Alabama; six grandchildren, Cassy Mitchell, Misty Bone, John McClain, Rachel Baxter, Lisa Powell, Cody Herman; ten great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews other family members and close friends including caregivers Debra McCall and Ruth Mitchell. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Prattmont Baptist Church Building Fund, 814 Smith Avenue, Prattville, Alabama 36067
