He was born August 17, 1953, in Smithers to Bob and Irene Phillips. He grew up in Telkwa before moving to Prince George to attend the College of New Caledonia where he studied Geography. Alan then went on to get his Master’s degree at the University of Victoria.
Alan was a proud father, and in 1995 he married Terry Phillips and they shared 30 wonderful years together. Alan is survived by his wife Terry, his family Colin, Crystal, Richard and Stephanie as well as grandchildren Nicholas, Olivia, Daniel and Steven.
Alan spent much of his career working for the Ministry of Environment before moving to the Ministry of Labour. He enjoyed lifelong friendships he developed with coworkers and classmates. Outside of work he loved to fish, ride his motorcycle, woodwork and watch his grandchildren play.
Alan was deeply loved by his family and he will be sorely missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date. If desired, a donation can be made in Al’s name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.
