Arthur Adolf Esslinger November 22, 1941 - November 14, 2013 It is with extreme sadness and shock that we announce the passing or our beloved "OPI" (Grandpa). Arthur Esslinger passed away peacefully in his sleep. He is survived by his wife of 47 years Karin, his daughter Nicole (Mario) Federucci, grandsons Branthur & Lucas the apples of his eye and his beloved dog Pelou whom he took with him wherever he went! He also leaves behind many relatives and good friends in Germany. He was always goofing around with his two treasured grandsons and wanted to make sure that he was always going to be remembered for all the fun he had with them. Their hearts were truly broken on November 14th as was all those that knew our Opi. Art was born in Germany and immigrated to Canada with Karin in 1966. Art comes from a family of 7 brothers and one sister, all of whom still reside in Germany today. Art was very well known in the Prince George community working as a well respected mechanic owning his own repair garage for over 25 years and later retiring at 50 to help his wife in her business. His nickname was "Smart Art from the Hart". If Opi wasn't driving around town checking on things he was out at Trembleur Lake enjoying his cabin that he put so much pride into over the years. He has now gone to join his mom, dad and brother whom he lost many years ago. Our deepest thanks go out to those friends that came to our side on this very sad day. We also thank all the friends and family who gave their condolences that were unable to come personally. A Celebration of life will take place at the First Baptist Church, 483 Gillett St. Thursday 1pm November 21, 2013. Reception to follow after the service. A man that saw the positive in everything, the one that made light when things seemed so dim, we cannot imagine a day without him. Our one and only Opi we love you and we miss you so much already, rest in peace. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA.
