My condolences to his his son, as well I believe Cliff had a sister that passed before him, and there was beloved Aunt Jane as well.  Such a large family we shouldn’t forget them as well.  Money isn’t everything this is what Uncle Cliff taught me.  Would love to have heard the conversations he had with those  special to us once he reached those pearly gates.

Our sincere condolences. It's been  bittersweet to be reminded of Cliff's many wonderful qualities through the words and photos that his friends and loved ones have posted to this memorial website. 

We also experienced Cliff's good nature, generosity, wit and many talents including making music, carving and knife making. To this day we have an exquisite set of miniature tools that he made.  Indeed, he had so many interests and such enthusiasm for life that we think of him as a man for all seasons.  

We know you will all miss him dearly after your long journey together through Parkinson's.  May you find solace in knowing he lived a principled life, had many friends and gave back to his community.  May he rest in peace.

Dear Angie:  Terry & I were saddened to read about Cliff in the Driftwood.  We realized, of course, that he had been experiencing health problems for some time.  Seeing his picture brought us a wealth of memories we had the privilege and pleasure of sharing with you both while you were here on Salt Spring -- Scottish country dancing at Fulford, wonderful meals at your place off Sunset Drive; Cliff's love of Salt Spring lamb; your beautiful property with the pond and wood duck -- too many to mention them all here.  We hope if you have a chance to come again to Salt Spring that you will let us know; we have a warm, comfortable guest room we can offer, and would very much welcome you back to the Island. So sorry to hear of Cliff's passing Angie. We all remember him fondly on Salt Spring and I send condolences on behalf of all of us at ArtSpring. My mother doesn't remember too much these days, but I certainly recall how well she and Cliff got along at Braehaven.

Our deepest sympathies to you all.  Cliff will be missed but he leaves a legacy behind; remembered for his humour, jokes, kind-heartedness, laughter, his many stories of his past experiences.  
He was a talented man with many hobbies from making beautiful knives, leather holders, riding motorcycles, kayaking, gardening and 'bagpiping' to name a few. I always thought he was a "cool" British uncle.
So glad that he lived his life to the fullest before the Parkinson's took over.  
He will always have a special place in our hearts.

Angie and family,  please accept our deepest sympathy during this most difficult time.  Our hearts, thoughts and prayers are with you.  We are so blessed and thankful for the long friendship we shared with you and Cliff and cherish those happy and wonderful memories.  We remember Cliff as a talented carving artist.  Cliff gave us an Indian mask one Christmas and we still have it proudly displayed in our living room.   We enjoyed his story-telling, his jokes and his great sense of humour.  We remember his love of music, playing the bagpipe and the guitar and dancing with the Salt Spring Island  Scottish Country Dance  Club.  He was also an avid sportsman getting involved in fishing, canoeing, biking and hiking. He was a great and meticulous cook and we always enjoyed dinners at Cliff and Angie's.  Lastly, we will remember Cliff for being a devoted husband, a proud father and a loving grandfather. Thank you for sharing your life with us. Your memory will live in our hearts always.

I continue to be grateful for the kindness and friendship that Cliff and Angie extended towards me when I was new to Saltspring Island, and Scottish dancing.  We continued to be friends throughout the years. Cliff, wherever you may be at this moment, I am sorry not to have seen you one more time before your passing.   

Cliff had a talent and appreciation for visual arts and was a mentor to others with similar interests.  He was a stellar human being with multiple talents, a rich and extensive sense of humor, and a vast heart.  Cliff will be greatly missed by all who loved him so dearly.  May Angie, Kasandra, Ramesh, Ramona and Naomi be blessed with abundant love and support at this time.

Angie and family, condolences to you all. Cliff will be remembered as an adventurer, a talented carver, a comic and great joker always with a tale to tell! A friend, a husband, father and grandfather. I always remember Cliff with a huge smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye.  As a long time member of our Salt Spring Island Scottish Country Dance Club he piped, he danced and he recited The Address to The Haggis at our annual Robbie Burns dinner and dance. Angie and Cliff were a great "Scottish" couple!
Fondly remembered,

Cliff's sunny outlook on life and his great sense of humour endeared him to his neighbours on Mountain View Drive.  When he and Angie moved, they were missed by the many friends they made on our street.  Cliff lived a good life and his passing with such grace is a testament to his uplifting attitude.

Things we remember about Uncle Cliff:

Uncle Cliff was a funny, talented, eclectic man. Rob and I fondly remember his interest in visual art, knife making, carving, archery, kendo, motorcycles (with sidecars), bagpipes and various home projects to name a few.  His enthusiasm was infectious and Rob remembers trying several cool new motorcycles purchased by Cliff as well as going to the archery range with him and undertaking some carving projects suggested by Cliff. 

Uncle Cliff was a true story/joke teller with an unlimited repertoire and the added gift of being able to do accents really well. This made him really fun to be around; “Who works for Cunard?”

Uncle Cliff was a gentle spirit. Some of his work and Navy experiences, which involved unfairness or cruelty, seemed to trouble him long after the fact. 
Although sadly we didn't keep in touch much over the years, we still lovingly remember Uncle Cliff as someone who valued friendship and family. On any visit with Uncle Cliff it didn't take long for the conversation to turn to Angie and Kassandra. They were the love of his life and he spoke with pride about both of them. 

Uncle Cliff will continue to be in our hearts just as Rob will continue to shamelessly put forth his jokes as his own. Our thoughts and prayers are with Angie, Kassandra and the grandchildren.
