It is with great sadness that on Saturday, July 25th, 2020, Jeffrey Derrick Maughan, son, brother, father, uncle and friend to many passed away suddenly at the age of 29, in Prince George, British Columbia.
Jeffrey will be forever remembered by his mother, Tina; father, Willis; sister, Jessica (Dylan); nephew, Avery; son, Derrick; grandmother, Juanita Conrad; significant other, Nadiya Weaver; as well as numerous extended family members and friends.
Jeffrey was predeceased by his grandparents, Jean & Leo Maughan, Bridgewater, NS, and his grandfather, Edward Conrad, Bridgewater, NS.
Jeffrey was born June 9th, 1991, in Lunenburg Nova Scotia, raised in Bridgewater Nova Scotia. He had lots of plans and dreams once he graduated from PVEC. He worked varies jobs that allowed him the opportunity to see many different provinces, and learn new trades. The job he liked the most was processing logs this job let him work on his own, which was always a very fast pace and allowed him to see lots of wildlife. His last year he was learning to do carpenter work and was very proud of all his DeWalt tools. He would say “all other tools were junk unless it was a DeWalt.” He was carefree, hard working, courageous, strong, and willing to try anything that was fun. Best of all, he was proud to be a father, and loved his son to the ends of the world, and would have done anything for his little boy. Jeffrey was not one to sit around, he always had to be on the go, or doing something for himself or to help others. Jeffrey was one of a kind, and a very amazing person with a deep belly laugh.
A private service was held at Assman’s Funeral Chapel in Prince George, British Columbia, and a celebration of life will be planned at a later date in Nova Scotia.
Any memorial donations will be put in a trust fund for his son, Derrick Dalton Maughan age 5. These funds will be used towards a successful future for Derrick, whether it be post-secondary education, a car or a house. Donations can be made using gofundme page (gf.me/u/yn3zxh), or contact Jessica Hitchcock/Tina Maughan to make a direct donation.
