

Joe Singh Powar, 93, of Prince George, passed away on May 24, 2025, in Vernon, BC. He was born on March 9, 1932, in Punjab, India, to Amar Kaur and Jagger Singh.
Joe dedicated 12 years of his life to the Navy to support his siblings after the passing of his father. Joe served as Seaman 1st class for the Indian Navy and attended the coronation of Queen Elizabeth during that time. In 1962, he immigrated to Canada, settling in British Columbia, where he worked in the furniture business for over five decades.
Joe married Dildar Kaur, and together they raised three children—Nimo, Luckey (married to Kal), and Ron (married to Linda). He was a proud grandfather to five grandsons—Nathan, Cole, Terry, Gary, and Robyn—and one granddaughter, Sabrina. His legacy continues through his seven beloved great-grandchildren.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, and three siblings. He leaves behind a life rich in love, hard work, and dedication to his family.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 9, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Lakewood Funeral Chapel in Prince George. A final prayer and lunch will follow at the Sikh Temple on 5th Ave.
Joe’s kindness and strength touched many lives, and his memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
