Karl was born and raised in the Chief Lake area, he had recently chose to move back to the area to be closer to his family, most importantly his grandchildren who meant the world to him.
Karl was survived by his sons Tyson (Gabby) and Teran (Tyler), grandsons Logan and Luke, parents Dave and Lorraine, and sister Darlene.
Karl was a devoted father, husband and worker. For those of you that knew Karl well, you know he had a passion for work. It didn't matter if it was running a grader for more hours than needed or maintaining and running his trucks 24 hours a day. Karl would go out of his way to show and share his knowledge when it came to the trucking and road maintenance business, if he could help someone be a little more successful he would.
When Karl managed to finally take time to enjoy life you could find him riding a snowmobile, quad or side by side. Again, he gave many pointers to people on how to navigate those steep slopes and gnarly mud holes.
Throughout Karl's battle with Cancer, he set very clear goals for himself, to have Christmas at home with his family, to host his own birthday party around a campfire at his house, to go on some adventures, and to go camping on May long weekend with his family. When Karl set a goal he met them, even if it wore him down. Not surprisingly, he managed to reach every single one.
Karl was truly an inspiration for those around him. In January he wrote "I am going to live my life how I want. Fighting is the only thing I know how to do. As usual it will probably cost me in the end but I HAVE TO LIVE MY LIFE TRUE TO WHO I AM BECAUSE THAT IS WHO I AM!".
You can now rest Karl. Until we meet again, you will forever be in our thoughts and hearts.
Memorial will be held at the Hart Pioneer Centre in Prince George, Thursday June 26th from 1:30 - 4:30. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Prince George Rotary Hospice House.
