Lorence Wesley Cole, a man of unparalleled integrity, warmth, and quiet strength, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2025, in Prince George, British Columbia, leaving a lasting legacy of love. True to his nature, Lorence’s passing was peaceful, and he was surrounded by the love of his devoted wife, children, and loyal companion, Jack.
Lorence was born on December 10, 1962, the only son of Marv and Jean Cole, both of whom have predeceased him. Lorence was raised in Prince George and was happy to call this city home.
Lorence’s greatest pride and joy was his family. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 33 years, Tracy, and their children, Greg, Jillian, and Erin (Mason). He was a devoted and loving husband and father, always present, always encouraging, and always ready with a word of wisdom or a joke to brighten the day. Lorence’s love for his children was unwavering, and he was always the first to support their dreams and celebrate their successes. His passion for family was evident in everything he did, and his presence will be deeply missed.
Lorence was a respected brother-in-law to Annie and Jim Yates, Ben and Carla Conway, and Grant Conway, a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews, a treasured nephew and cherished cousin.
Lorence’s solid work ethic and strong moral compass made him the successful owner of Gateway Electric where he earned the respect and admiration of all who crossed his path. He was a man whose word was as good as his handshake, a man who believed in doing things the right way and his contributions to his trade were matched only by his commitment to the people around him.
Lorence valued travel and he and Tracy were always planning a trip somewhere. Some of his favourite destinations included Australia, Japan, Mexico and more recently, the Grand Canyon and New York City. A true lover of the outdoors, Lorence found peace in nature—whether casting a line in a lake or ocean, camping with friends or watching the sun set over the horizon. He was an avid fisherman, always at ease when surrounded by the beauty of the natural world. But Lorence was also known for his appreciation of life’s simpler pleasures—whether it was sharing a great steak with friends or enjoying a glass of Quik after a day at work.
A celebration of Lorence’s life will take place on Sunday, February 9 at 1:00 PM at the Blackburn Community Centre, 2451 South Blackburn Road.
We are truly fortunate to have the Rotary Hospice House in Prince George. The compassionate staff there ensured that Lorence's final days were dignified and peaceful, allowing his family to focus on spending precious time with him. In lieu of flowers, his family kindly requests that donations be made to the Rotary Hospice House.
Lorence’s legacy is one of love, integrity, and a deep commitment to his family and community. He was a man who lived his life with purpose and left a profound impact on everyone who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him, and his spirit will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to call him a friend.
The part of my life where I had you, will forever be my favourite.
