It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lynn Ellen Williams (nee Hartley). Born on September 2, 1947, in Edmonton, Alberta, Lynn passed away peacefully in her home in Prince George, British Columbia, on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, at the age of 77.
Lynn is survived by her three children, Sheri (Michael), Bruce (Shauna), and Don (Dychelle), as well as her cherished grandchildren Reid (Damara), Noah, Gregory (Danielle), Ashley, Jordyn (Turner), Matthew, James, and her first great-granddaughter, Charlie. She also leaves behind her sister Dara (Dennis) and brother David and half-siblings Joan (Dale), Peter, Rodger (Janet), and Richard (Reo), as well as her extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.
Lynn was a remarkable woman, known for her strength, independence, and unwavering love and support for those she held dear. She had a passion for reading, leaning to sci-fi, fantasy, mystery and adventure, loved lego, puzzles, and cats, and enjoyed crafting in all its formats. She took great pleasure in creating unique gifts for friends and family, in particular, cards and amigurumi (knitted and crocheted miniature stuffed toys), that reflected their individual personality and tastes. She loved her family and friends and treasured every moment spent with them, but also valued her privacy and solitude and was happy and content being on her own.
Lynn was a devoted mother who had the bulk of raising three young children as her husband Lloyd (deceased) was gone a large part of the time driving Greyhound. During those years, Lynn also worked full time as a legal conveyancer, braving BC highways an hour each way to help provide for her family. Over the course of her career, Lynn’s dedication and expertise made her greatly sought after and she was highly regarded by the many lawyers, conveyancers, and realtors who were fortunate enough to work with her.
When her children reached adulthood, Lynn allowed her adventurous spirit to run free and moved to Portugal for six months, where she immersed herself in the culture and taught English to the local residents. Upon returning home, she began making plans to go to Russia, but ultimately ended up moving to Haifa, Israel, to serve at the Bahá'í World Centre, something that brought her immense joy and fulfillment as it allowed her to live her faith in service.
A devoted follower of the Bahá'í faith, Lynn epitomized its values in how she lived her life; the kindness and compassion she showed to others, her journey of self discovery and questioning, and her constant search for the truth in all things. Lynn’s faith gave her endless contentment and joy and her steadfast belief left her with no fear of what the future held.
Lynn will live on in the hearts and memories of those who loved her. She had a huge heart and loved her family and friends beyond measure, lived life on her terms, and was independent to the end. To have known her was a gift and she left her mark on everyone who crossed her path. That Lynn was taken from us far too soon and unexpectedly is a tragedy. She will be missed more than any heart should have to bear.
