Margaret Ann Girling, 76, passed peacefully May 25, 2022 at Prince George Hospice house after a 16-year battle with Parkinsons. She was born June 3, 1945 in Prince George, BC to Harry and Helen Weaver.
She was loved and will be missed. Her memory and spirit will be carried on by her husband, two daughters, grandchild, and brother as well as numerous other family members and friends.
Margaret was born and raised in Prince George, BC. After graduation from Duchess Park Secondary School, she worked as a nurse's aide at the Prince George Regional Hospital, where she helped care for patients. On one particular work day, she felt sorry for a very hungry young man (Walter) that was admitted due to a car accident and began bringing him peanut butter sandwiches from home. They were married on July 2, 1966.
She was a devoted mother with a kind heart. Her family was always her first priority and she was forever our peacekeeper. Margaret tried to teach her entire family many lessons throughout her life: kindness towards each other in words and actions, forgiveness and patience.
She later went on to a 30-year career with the Royal Bank of Canada with early retirement at 55. She spent many days at Summit Lake, camping, boating and adventuring with Walter.
Margaret received a Parkinsons diagnosis in 2006 and tried not to let it slow her down.
A Celebration of Life is planned for June 3, 2022 from 1 - 5pm @6610 Essex Crescent. Please dress casually. Margaret wouldn't want it any other way.
Memorial donations may be made to the Prince George Rotary Hospice House or to the Parkinsons Society of BC.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Prince George Hospice and UHNBC for their compassion and care.
