It is with heavy hearts the family of Marvina (Marv) Nikkel announce her passing, quietly and peacefully at home in the early morning hours of New Years Day, at the age of 92. She is survived by her devoted & loving husband of 70 years Robert (Bob), her children Alan (MaryLou), Greg (Sharon) and Donna Hanson, also seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Marvina Loretta Senft was born in Hodgeville, SK, to parents Marie & Theophilus (Theo) Senft. She grew up on a farm, the only girl with an older brother, Wilbert and a younger brother Vern, where the value of hard work was learned. The family later moved to Chilliwack. Marv attended John Oliver High School in Vancouver, completing grade 11 and then began working at Sears in an office. She developed many skills that would later assist her in her book keeping and office managing role in what would become the family business of NR Motors.
In Vancouver she would meet her future husband, Robert, and they would marry on August 31, 1955. Unable to have biological children, they adopted Alan (1961) Greg (1962) and Donna (1964). The family left Vancouver & moved to Prince George in 1965, where Dad worked as a Millwright and then operated a Pacific 66 service station on First Ave. This business would evolve, over the next 55 years, into NR Motors which would become the largest and longest tenured Recreational Vehicle, Marine and Power Sports business serving Prince George and Northern B.C. Communities.
The family business, as it was known, was a focus of family life with all three children and several grandchildren employed at various times. Family trips often accompanied business RV Shows or Boat Shows and it was not uncommon to be fixing someone’s boat at Ness Lake while on a weekend getaway. Many lasting memories were generated at Ness Lake, on the cabin deck around the grill as Mom prepared Sunday brunch or the numerous other meals. Mom was a dedicated and gifted hostess, frequently hosting family, friends, newcomers to the church and missionaries associated with their local church. Mom’s greatest joy was being able to have family times & dinners. A woman of deep faith, she loved southern gospel music and the Gaithers, and promoted several gospel concerts held in Prince George. Mom & Dad travelled for many years to Red Deer to attend the Gospel Quartet Conventions.
Later in life Mom and Dad would enjoy the life of snowbirds travelling first to Palm Springs, then later years to Yuma, Arizona and on one occasion to the tip of the Baha Peninsula, Mexico. These trips generated experiences, lasting friendships and memories still celebrated.
Later years were physically challenging for Mom. Her wishes to pass at home were honored. The family is grateful to her family doctor, Dr. Boutcher, who made numerous home visits over the years and the team of care aides who made this possible. A family memorial will take place later this year at the family cabin on Ness Lake.

"Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken. My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge. Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge." (Psalm 62:5-8)
