Patrick George Martin went to be with his son Kyle Martin, daughter Denise Paul-Leon, parents Martha and George Martin and many ancestors on Friday August 1, 2025. He was surrounded by his beloved wife Georgina; daughter Kirsten Martin; son-in-law Cody White; niece Roz Grenkie; nephews Soren, Keston and Havyn Paolini; nephew Medric Poirier Jr (partner Charity) and great friend Jack Moch when he passed into the spirit world.
Pat has gone far too soon. He is deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Georgina and his children Kirsten and Melissa Martin and Trevor Paul. He is adored by his loving grandchildren Jamison, Kaysen and Rhiannon Martin, Vincent Starr, Linden and Phoenix Paul. He also leaves his siblings Josie Balzer, Wilf Plasway, Genevieve Poirier, Mary Martin, Liz Nadeau and Steve Plasway.
Pat grew up in Prince Rupert and moved to Smithers in his teens. He also lived in Fort Babine. He moved to Prince George in 1983 where he spent the majority of his life. He joined the RCMP on March 28, 1990 and retired on April 1, 2014. He was stationed in Smithers and worked with Moricetown and Fort Babine before his transfer to Prince George. He grew to know many people during his service. He considered his career path as an RCMP Officer as an opportunity to serve his community and most importantly to help improve the lives of Indigenous people.
A Celebration of Pat's Life will be held on Tuesday August 19, 2025 at 1 pm at Assmans's Funeral Chapel located at 1908 Queensway Street, Prince George, BC. Refreshments to follow at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 43 at 1116 6th Avenue, Prince George, BC from 3 - 5pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations for the Prince George Cops for Cancer ride that takes place annually. Above all, Pat was a kind and compassionate man. A strong force for his family and a beacon for Indigenous people in his role as a member of the RCMP.
