She was born as Betsy Lee Robinette on May 9, 1934 in Rock, West Virginia. She attended Spanishburg HIgh School, where she met the love of her life, Hollie Hodges. After graduating in 1952 they married and moved to Key West. Throughout their 61 years marriage they lived in several locations including Pasadena, Albuquerque, Morgantown, and Knoxville, before returning to the Houston area in the 1980's where she enjoyed the highlight of her professional career, working for NASA at the Johnson Space Center. She retired in 2001.
She loved her family, friends, shopping with her granddaughters, playing games, watching the Houston Rockets, 4th of July parties, Christmas, and traveling. She traveled extensively throughout the world to locations including Rome, Moscow, Istanbul, London, and Paris. She liked to read biographies of inspirational people, not ever realizing what an inspiration she was to her family and friends. We will not say goodbye. That would be impossible, because she will always be with us.
She is survived by her husband, Hollie, daughter Sherry and her husband Don, son Steve, sister Lillian, brothers, Fred, Elsworth, Bobby, grand children Kim, Megan, Katie, Donny and his wife Leslie, Jon and his wife Britney, sister-in-law Betty Meadows, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
