John Don Blankenship

BLUEFIELD, WV – John D. Blankenship, 78, of Bluefield, WV, passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2010 at Greensboro, NC. He was the son of the late Walter and Thelma Blankenship. John was born February 5, 1932, at Panther, WV.

John was a retired railroad brakeman for Norfolk and Western and a member of the Liberty Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Cora Jane Blankenship and son, Don Franklin Blankenship.

John will be sadly missed by his son, John Blankenship Jr., of Clermont, FL; daughters, Patsy Luebke of Wytheville, VA; Julie Cline of Martinsburg; grandsons, Don Franklin Blankenship II. and wife Tina Marie of Premier, Tyler Blankenship of Pipestem, Dewayne Cline of Martinsburg; granddaughters Brianna Jane Cline of Martinsburg, Grace Marie Blankenship of Clermont, FL, Jennifer Reeves and husband Ronald of Wytheville, VA; great-grandchildren, Amber Lynn Rethati, Danielle Marie Reeves, Alexandra Nicole Reeves, Joshua Patrick Reeves, Jamie Lynn Reeves, all of Wytheville; Don Franklin Blankenship, III., of Premier; brothers and sisters, Delores Cline of Bassett, VA, Franklin D. (Doug) Blankenship of Atkins VA., Garnet Hagy of Bassett, VA, and Betty Ann Riffe of Bassett, VA.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 19, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Liberty Baptist Church, 260 Windy Hill Drive, Princeton WV.

Visitation Services will also be held from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, October 20, 2010.

Graveside service will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in the Garden of Last Supper at 3:00 pm., with Pastor Greg Kinzer officiating.

Family will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Liberty Baptist Church.
