

KING, N.C. — Mary Ella (Black) Bowers, 88, formerly of Rt. 3 Lortin Lick Road, Bluefield passed away December 26, 2010 at her residence in King, N.C.
Born December 21, 1921 in McComas, W.Va., she was the only daughter of John T Black and Ada Gills Black.
A 53 year resident of Bluefield, she was a loving mother, grandmother and homemaker, where she enjoyed cooking, gardening and visiting with family and friends. She attended Montcalm's First Christian Church, was a member of the Montcalm Senior Woman's Club and the Ladies Auxillary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Black Rock Post 3112.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Loman G. Bowers; five brothers, Paul, Ted L., John S. (Vester), Walton E. and Howard L. Black.
Mary Ella will be sadly missed by her daughter, Karen Bowers Ratcliff and husband Gary of King, N.C.; three grandchildren, Lisa D. Ratcliff of Pinnacle, N.C., Nickolaus J. Ratcliff of King, N.C., and Stephanie L. Ratcliff of Lewisville, N.C.; one brother, William T. Black and wife Nina of Tocca, Ga.; two sisters-in-law, Mary C. Black and Janie D. Black; six nephews; and eight nieces.
Graveside services will be held at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel in Princeton, W.Va. on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend James F. Black officiating.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
