

North Providence A. Earl Morrissey, 85, died Monday morning, November 11, 2013, at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Alice M. (Madoian) Morrissey for the past fifty-nine years. Born in Providence, a son of the late Thomas J. and Katherine J. (Croft) Morrissey, he lived in North Providence most of his life. Earl was a legislative research analyst at the Rhode Island State House for twenty years, retiring in 1997. Previously, he was a pharmaceutical sales representative for Johnson & Johnson for twenty years. Always active in his community and local politics, Earl was a member of the North Providence Purchasing Board, and had also served as the part-time Town Welfare Director and as a volunteer firefighter. He was a member of the North Providence Democratic Town Committee, past president of the Centerdale Workingman's Club, and a communicant of Saint Augustine Church. In addition to his wife Alice, he leaves a daughter, Deborah A. Laffey and her husband Francis; a son, Mark A. Morrissey and his wife Julia; three loving grandchildren, Max, Finn and Tempest; and a brother, Joseph T. Morrissey. He was a brother of the late Thomas and Eugene Morrissey. The funeral will be held Friday, at 8:45 am, from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Saint Augustine Church, 639 Mount Pleasant Avenue, Providence. Burial will be in Saint Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours Thursday, 4 - 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary, 399 Fruit Hill Avenue, North Providence, RI 02911 in his memory will be appreciated.
