

Johnston Alphonse R. Testa, 96, of Johnston, died Wednesday at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Dahlia L. (Fiore) Testa for almost seventy-two years.Born in Providence, a son of Anthony and Giovanna (DeLuca) Testa, he lived in Providence before moving to Johnston sixty years ago.Al served honorably in the United States Army during World War II, and after being discharged, worked for the A & P Supermarket where he was the Dairy department manager for over thirty years. He also founded Pride Realty, a real estate and insurance brokerage firm, which he worked at for many years before retiring. He was a former President of the Realty Brokers Association, and founded the Helping Hand Ministry at the Trinity Assembly of God Church.In addition to his wife Dahlia, he leaves four daughters, Maree A. O'Brien, Jane A. Coyne and her husband Robert, Donna J. Carnevale, and Patricia L. Mitchell and her husband Jeremy; a son, Alphonse R. Testa, Jr. and his wife Karen; a sister, Anna G. Ionta; eleven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and two great-great granddaughters. He was a brother of the late Dorothy E. Testa and Elaine G. O'Neil.The visiting hours will be held Wednesday morning, from 8:00 am to 9:45 am, in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home 331 Smith Street, Providence. Funeral service at 10:30 am in the Trinity Assembly of God Church, 2119 Hartford Avenue, Johnston. Burial, with military honors, will be in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
