

Born in Providence, Alyssa was the cherished daughter of Mary Rita (Simoneau) Toner and the late John Toner, and the beloved sister of John Toner. Deeply devoted to her family, Alyssa shared a close and loving bond with those nearest to her, one that was felt in both her quiet moments and her joyful laughter.
Alyssa was a graduate of North Providence High School, Class of 2009, and went on to pursue her calling in nursing, earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Rhode Island, Class of 2013. She was immensely proud to be a nurse, a role she embraced with compassion, strength, and an unwavering dedication to helping others during their most vulnerable moments.
She began her nursing career in the PACU in Texas before returning home to New England, where she devoted the past nine years to caring for critically ill patients in the ICU and Trauma Department at UMass Memorial Hospital. Alyssa was respected and admired by her colleagues for her skill, resilience, and genuine kindness, and she made a lasting difference in the lives of countless patients and families.
Outside of her demanding career, Alyssa enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. She played soccer growing up and was a loyal football fan, especially of the New England Patriots, celebrating their victories with enthusiasm. This past year, she shared a joyful and unforgettable experience with her mother, playing Fantasy Football together for the first time and proudly finishing in second place, a simple pleasure that became a deeply meaningful moment between them.
Alyssa’s life, though far too short, was one of purpose, compassion, and love. She will be remembered for her selfless heart, her dedication to her profession, and the warmth and light she brought into the lives of those around her.
Funeral services and burial will be held privately.
