

Angelina Pelino, 90, died on November 26, 2011 in Providence. She was born on August 28, 1921 in Quincy, MA. She was the daughter of the late Carmine Rossi and Domenica Mancini Rossi. She was the wife of the late Pasco Pelino, and the sister of the late Henry Rossi and Lydia Delmonaco. She is survived by her son, Dr. David Pelino, and her siblings Teresa Lepore, Arthur Rossi and Norma Pelosi.
All who knew her loved her sense of humor, warmth, liveliness and intelligence. She was fluent in Italian, and was an ever-enthusiastic student of Italian film, literature, music and history. She also facilitated and nurtured relationships between her family members in Italy and the United States. After graduating Central High School she worked as a secretary and translator for the Italian Echo in Providence. She subsequently held positions at a number of federal agencies in California, Michigan and New England, before working for thirty-five years as a medical secretary at the Newington, CT Veterans Hospital. She was a regular subscriber to the Hartford Stage Company, and frequently attended public programs, lectures and films at Trinity College. She loved reading biographies, and was an early loyal fan of CSPAN’s Book TV.
Wherever she lived and worked, she made close and enduring friendships; consistently showing a natural interest in and empathy for the people she encountered. She was always ready to engage in genuine conversation, and was a wonderful listener. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, and will be remembered as a singular and remarkable presence in their lives.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday at 11 a.m. in the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence. Inurnment will be in the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.
