

Mc Areavey, Anne J. (Cahir) of Narragansett, passed away Friday, October 28, 2011 at the Scallop Shell Nursing Home, in Wakefield, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of James H. Mc Areavey. They had been married for 62 years in July. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late John H. and Ann (Geever) Cahir. She has resided in Narragansett since 1963. Anne graduated in the class of 1973 from the University of Rhode Island receiving her Bachelor of Arts Degree. After graduation she was employed as a special education teacher in the City of Providence School Department for many years. Mr. and Mrs. Mc Areavey Spent their winters together in Panama City, Florida for many years. Besides her husband James, She leaves her two sons, James A. Mc Areavey, and his wife Jeanne, of Johnston, and John E. Mc Areavey and his wife, Susan, of Gloucester, MA; two daughters Maureen A. Copan, and her husband, Jay, of Raleigh, NC, and Joan E. Mc Aleer, and her husband Thomas, of Jamestown; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren; two brothers, John H. Cahir, Jr. of NY, and Thomas A. "Dick" Cahir, of Narragansett; and a sister, Helen Foeri, of Pawtucket. She was also the sister of the late William J. Cahir. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 2nd, 2011 at 10:00 am in Saint Mary's Star of the Sea Church, 864 Point Judith Road, Point Judith, to which relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, from 5-8 pm, in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road (Rt. 117 - Exit 10 off I-95) Warwick. Burial will follow in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Salvation Army, 201 Pitman Street, Providence, RI 02906.
