Anthony Caranci, 91, passed away August 24, 2014. He was the beloved husband of Mafalda “Muffy” (Salera) Caranci for 66 years. Born in Lincoln, RI, he was a son of the late Nunzio and Maria (Ciotola) Caranci. He was the devoted father of Jane M. Johnson and her husband Ronald; grandfather of the late Lauren E. Johnson; and brother of Yolanda Pavone and the late Etta Golotto, Stella Pannone, Fannie Paquin, Al Caranci and Lee Caranci.
Anthony had served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII and had flown in 35 missions over Germany. He had retired as a supervisor for Mine Safety Appliances.
Visitation and funeral will be held Wednesday from 9-10 a.m. in the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 1804 Atwood Avenue, Johnston. Graveside burial with military honors in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Providence Animal Rescue League, 34 Elbow Street, Providence, RI 02903.
