Anthony S. “Gabbie” DiTommasso, 90, passed away May 25, 2016 peacefully with his family by his side. He was the husband of the late Angela C. (Lonardo) DiTommasso; son of the late Silvio and Antonetta (Saccetta) DeThomas; dedicated father of Diane Savard (Bob), Sandra DiTommasso, Lisa Degnan (Bill) and Shelly Davis (Ken); grandfather of Erica, David, Kaila, Miranda, Marissa and Allison; great-grandfather of Kendall and Leo. He was the brother of the late Bessie Rotondi, Angie DeSimone, Margaret Andoscia, and Etta DeCesare. He is also survived by his dog, Nina.
Mr. DiTommasso served in the Marine Corps during WWII and was a recipient of the Purple Heart for his efforts in Iwo Jima. He was a member of the Laborer’s Union Local 271 and a proud member of the Knights of Columbus St. Anthony Council 1618. He was also an avid New York Yankees fan.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday at 11 a.m. in St. Ann Church, 280 Hawkins Street, Providence. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
