

ANTHONY G. “TONY“ D'ORDINE ,73, of North Providence, died on September 1, 2016 at home. He was the husband of Helen (Moriarty) D’Ordine. They would have celebrated their Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary on November 19, 2016. Born in Providence, Anthony was the son of the late Gaetano and Mary (Sanita) D’Ordine. Anthony was predeceased by his twin sister, Ann Marie D’Ordine.
Anthony graduated from Providence College earning Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees and was a Social Worker for the Division of Developmental Disabilities, State of Rhode Island for thirty five years. During that time, he helped with the placement of residents out of the Joseph Ladd School as it was deinstitutionalized. He received the 2000 Nimmo Governmental Service Award and the RI ARC Special Recognition Award.
Anthony served in the U.S. Army with the 107th Signal Corp. in Vietnam, 1968-1969. He loved listening to classical music, gardening, cooking, walking and running. He was a weather buff and a Red Sox fan. Anthony was a member of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary parish where he attended elementary school. He loved to share happy memories of his time there. Whether it was singing in the choir for over 25 years, calling the BINGO numbers or interviewing long-time parishioners for the 100th Anniversary celebration in 2012, Anthony was an active contributor to the parish family.
Besides his wife, Anthony is survived by his loving children, Christine Doscher and her husband Herbert, Daniel D’Ordine and his wife Jennifer Braine, beloved grandchildren Phoebe and Olivia Doscher and Nathan, Skylar and Jane D’Ordine. Their smiling faces brightened his last days. The family would like to thank all of the medical angels who touched Anthony’s life in any way.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at 9:00 at Church of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 1081 Mineral Spring Avenue, North Providence, RI 02904. Burial with military honors will follow in the RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Calling hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Diocese of Providence, ‘Keep the Heat On’, One Cathedral Square, Providence, RI 02903 or Church of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
