Anthony M. Piccoli , 61, of Providence went home to be with Jesus on July 14, 2016. He was the son of the late Michael C. Piccoli and Christine R. (Montecalvo) Piccoli. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 40 years Shirley (Rose) Piccoli, his daughter Jennifer (David) son Michael (Danielle), grandchildren Nathaniel, Viveonna, Larissa, Tyren and Amareya, brothers Robert Piccoli, Michael Piccoli, and sister, Joan Piccoli, many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear lifelong friends who all loved him deeply. Anthony was a counselor for students at the Junction Human Service Alternate School and Providence Community Action, Division of Clinical Services; however, his outreach to the community did not stop there. He was a true advocate for the "down and out" and champion of the oppressed. Anthony was an enthusiastic football fan and especially loved the Patriots! Over the years he played football for many local teams including George J West, Mount Pleasant High School, The RI Truckers, Delfino’s, Manton and The Teramano Club and was an assistant coach for Cranston High School East. He was an avid swimmer, even completing the Save the Bay Swim for Narragansett Bay and a competitive arm wrestler. Anthony enjoyed quahogging, mushrooming and hunting, but found even greater pleasure in teaching and watching his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews do these things. In recent years Anthony discovered a love for collecting precious gems. He bought and traded with people, who became friends, all over the world. He began selling these gems with 100% of proceeds forwarded to Hasbro Children's Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to Hasbro Children's Hospital. https://giving.lifespan.org/HCHgiving Calling hours will be held on Friday, July 22, 2016 at Sacred Exchange Fellowship 75 Division Street East Greewich, RI 11:00am -12:30pm, with a service immediately following at the same location.
