Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Anna (Young) Merritt.
Barbara was a secretary for the City of Providence for over 30 years before retiring. She was a member of the Onley Street Baptist Church for over 60 years as well as a member of the St. Martin de Porres Senior Center and the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter Areme #3.
She was the mother of Patricia M. Smith of Burrillville, Barbara J. Davis of East Providence, Keith E. Dodd of Melbourne, FL and Bravell Dodd, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL; grandmother of Dwayne, Kimberly, Stephanie, Shannon and several other grandchildren and of the late Keithena and great grandmother of many.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 18, 2022 at 9:30 AM in Olney Street Baptist Church, 100 Olney Street, Providence followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. Burial to follow in North Burial Ground Cemetery, Branch Avenue, Providence.
