Barbara Mary Ferro

Born in Providence, Rhode Island, Barbara was the daughter of the late George Farrell and Sarah (Mitchell) Farrell. A lifelong resident of Providence, she devoted herself to bettering her community.

Above all, Barbara was the devoted mother of Nancy McMaugh (Raymond) and John Ferro (Amada). She was the beloved grandmother, “Nana”, of Rebecca Regniere (Gary), Stephanie McMaugh, Joseph Ferro, Kimberly Peña (Erik), and Jolene Ferro, as well as the cherished bonus grandmother to Vannessa Griffin. She was the adored great grandmother of Madison Regniere, Jackson Regniere, Kiara Peña, and Ezra Peña.

A woman of deep Catholic faith, Barbara lived by the values with which she was raised. She was the matriarch of her family: organized, strong willed, and unafraid to speak her mind. The ultimate caregiver, Barbara dedicated her life to caring for others. She expanded her family many times over as a foster grandparent, and her reputation for kindness and compassion touched countless lives across generations.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 31, 2026, from 4:00–7:00 p.m. at the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony Church, 1413 Mineral Spring Avenue, North Providence. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Barbara’s legacy of love, care, and compassion will forever live on in the hearts of her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
