Catherine K. Ahern

Providence Catherine K. (Walch) Ahern, 72, of Providence, died Saturday morning at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Care Center, Providence. She was the wife of the late James J. "Jimmy" Ahern. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Russell K. and Rose (McBride) Walch.Cathy worked as a clerk for the State of Rhode Island, Division of Taxation, for over twenty years before retiring. She leaves a daughter, Pauline Ahern-Landolfi; four sons, Richard D. Ahern and his wife Denise, John J. Ahern and his wife Robin, Matthew K. Ahern and his wife Christen and James C. Ahern and his wife Nina; seven loving grandchildren, Joshua, Ryan, Jacob, Zachary, Anthony, James, Ava and Matthew; and a great granddaughter, Ryana. She was a sister of the late Russell C. Walch. The funeral will be held Saturday, at 9:00 am, from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 21 Traverse Street, Providence. Burial will be in Saint Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours Friday, 4:00 - 8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to Mount Pleasant High School Mens Basketball Team, c/o Charles Holiday, 136 Nelson Street, Providence, RI 02908 in her memory will be appreciated.
