

Charles Raymond “Ray” Vucci, 89, passed away surrounded by his loving family on September 28, 2024. He was the beloved husband of the late Lucille Ann (Actis) Vucci who passed away in July of 2023. Charles and Lucille were married for over 60 years and she was the true love of his life. He was also the son of the late Charles and Mary (Stellute) Vucci.
He will forever be remembered as an extremely hard working individual who always did his best to instill family values and principles in his children. He will also be remembered for his honesty and humility. “Ray”, as he liked to be called, was extremely generous to those in need.
Ray in his earlier years was a fantastic athlete and was co-captain of the golf team, a wrestler, and captain of the football team, an All-State middle linebacker for East Providence High School and a lifelong New York Yankee fan. He also was his high school’s treasurer, worked on the school paper’s sport staff, and loved trading in the stock market in his later years. He worked many years at the Metacomet Country Club in East Providence as well.
Ray was a veteran of the United States Navy and served his country with great pride and enjoyed traveling the globe. Ray was an extrovert who loved recounting his six-year stint in the Navy. Finally, Ray worked for a number of years at the Ciba Geigy chemical plant in Cranston where he made many friends as well as his second career working with great fulfillment for the Laborer’s International Union of North America, Local 271.
He was also a communicant of St. Edward’s Church in Providence since the 1960’s.
He was the devoted father of Charles J. Vucci (Brenda), Mark J. Vucci (Michelle) and Louis A. Vucci (Viviana) and cherished grandfather of Andrew, Maria and Patrick Vucci and uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Michael Vucci.
Visitation will be held Monday, October 7, 2024 from 4:00 -7:00 PM in the PONTARELLI-MARINO FUNERAL HOME, 971, Branch Avenue, Providence.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at 9:00 AM in St. Edward Church, 997 Branch Avenue, Providence. Burial with Military Honors to follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Charles’ memory to the St. Edward Food & Wellness Center, 1001 Branch Avenue, Providence, RI 02904.
