Clifford E. Rice, Sr., "Cliff" 80, of East Greenwich, passed away unexpectedly on Monday morning, September 26, 2016 at his home. He was the husband of Rosemary (Gormly) Rice. They were married for 58 years. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Clifford A. and Joyce A. (McGowan) Rice. Cliff served his country proudly in the United States Army from 1955-1965. Cliff was an avid sports fan who served the community as past president of Cranston Babe Ruth. More recently, he became an enthusiastic hi lo jack player. Cliff was a lover of life. He created a life that was a daily celebration, filled with laughter, generosity, kindness, humility and love. He indiscriminately brought happiness to everyone he encountered, strangers and loved ones alike. For all that knew him, we will look back on the 80 years of Cliff with a smile and memories to rival the funniest of comedians. While we are all left with a vacancy in our hearts from his absence, we are also left with a humbling challenge: if we could strive to be half the person Cliff was,how much more beautiful this world could be. Besides his wife, he leaves his children, Clifford E. Rice, Jr.(Kim), of Warwick and Maribeth DelGiudice (Tim), of East Greenwich; four loving grandchildren, Danielle, Ashley, Katherine, and Jack; and one great granddaughter, Felicity Grace. He was the brother of the late Arthur A. Rice, Daniel F. Rice, and Leon B. Rice. Cliff's funeral services and burial will be private. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. Donations to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St, Springfield, MA 01104, in his memory would be appreciated. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, Warwick. For online condolences, please visit:www.boyleandsonfuneralhome.com
