

David Paul Avarista Sr., age 64, of Providence, RI passed away on Friday, July 26, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Lori K. ( Goldstein ) Avarista. Lori and David dated when they were in high school and had attended the junior prom together. They lost touch with each other for about 10 years but eventually reconnected and were happily married for 36 years.
Born in Providence he was the son of the late Luigi Nicola and Sheila Mae ( McFarlane ) Avarista.
David served his country proudly in the United States Army. Mr. Avarista was a roadside technician for AAA of Rhode Island and Coletta's Towing for many years. David was a jack of all trades and a self educated engineer.There was never a need to call a " professional " for home maintenance or vehicle repairs. The saying goes, if David can't fix it, no one can. He loved tinkering on cars with his favorite vehicle being his 1979 Bandit edition Trans Am. David was an outstanding cook who took great pride in the dishes he would make from scratch. He also loved to relax and play video games.
In addition to his beloved wife Lori, David is survived by his sons, David P. Avarista, Jr., of Providence, Seth J. Avarista and his companion Kitzia Santana Reyes of Providence, his siblings, Joseph M. Avarista and his wife Marilia of East Providence, Paul G. Avarista of Pawtucket and Sandra A. Simoneau of Smithfield. He also leaves many nieces and nephews. David was brother of the late Daniel J. Avarista.
Visitation for David will be held Thursday, August 1, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Russell J Boyle and Son Funeral Homes, 331 Smith Street, Providence, RI. Funeral Friday, August 2, 2024 at 9:45 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in Our Lady of the Rosary, 21 Traverse St, Providence, RI 02903. Burial will be private.
