David Silverstein, 58, of New Bedford, died peacefully, surrounded by family, on Friday, July 20th of early-onset Alzheimer’s Disease. He will be remembered for his generosity and warmth; everything he did, he did for others—his wife, Jayne, his parents Joe and Jean, and most of all, his two children Ben and Emily. He is survived by these family members, as well as his sister Lois Kramer and his brother Stephen. David graduated from Dartmouth High School, class of 1972, and earned his bachelor’s from Ithaca College. He directed a preschool in Burlington, Vermont before returning to New Bedford, where he worked as a clothing buyer for the family business, Silverstein’s and managed its offshoot store, Silverstein’s Too. He also worked as a teacher in the Dartmouth school system before becoming a lead teambuilding facilitator for TeamBonding. David always put others first; he drew his happiness from making others happy. In lieu of flowers or donations, the family suggests that you take a moment to do something good for yourself. Something you’ve wanted to do, and have been putting off. His service will be held Sunday, July 22 at 12:00 Noon at Tifereth Israel Congregation, New Bedford. Shiva is held at 109 East Clinton Street New Bedford on Sunday and Monday from 5PM-8PM.
