Dolores J. Brown, 78, formerly of Metcalf Court, passed away August 31, 2012 at Eastgate Nursing & Recovery Center. She had been the wife of the late Eugene R. Brown and the late Leslie G. Thompson Jr.
Born in East Providence and raised by her late grandmother, Silvana Gomes, she was the daughter of the late Anthony Damas and Ethel Ribeiro; mother of Paula T. Poole, Sandra L. Sherman, Kenneth L. Thompson, Gail T. Rich, Donna M. Thompson and the late Raymond E. Brown and Robert L. Thompson; grandmother of 9; great-grandmother of 3; sister of the late Robert P. Damas, Eileen Benson and Marjorie A. Rigo.
Mrs. Brown had worked as a C.N.A. for the Visiting Nurses of RI before retiring.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, 4-7 p.m. with a funeral service on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence. Interment will follow in the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org) are deeply appreciated.
