Dorothy L. Barclay, 79, of Cornell Avenue, East Providence, passed away Saturday after an extended illness. She was the wife of Victor F. Barclay. She cared. She shared. She made a difference. Barclay II, both of East Providence; a daughter, Brenda Barclay Olsen and her husband Steven of Polson, Montana; a grandson, Derek Barclay Bernier, whom she adored and his wife Ainsley of Boise, Idaho. Dorothy dedicated herself to her work. Dorothy loved to travel throughout the country and eventually visited all fifty states. Her summers were spent on Jamestown shores with her mother and young family. Beavertail was her favorite perch for the America's Cup Races. She always found peace sitting by the water in one of her many favorite places along Rhode Island shorelines.A true New England sports fan, she was a lifelong Red Sox fan and also followed the Patriots, Bruins and most of all, her beloved Providence College Friar Hockey teams. A faithful Providence College season ticket holder, she also attended many years of NCAA Frozen Four championships all over the country. But above all, Dorothy loved her family and extended family. She was a devoted wife, mom and grandmother and cared for her family with a passion. She was in fact, a very special person. Her Funeral will be held on Thursday at 8:45 am from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road, Warwick (Rt.117). Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Saint Matthew Church, Elmwood Ave, Cranston. Visiting hours, Wednesday, 5-8pm.
