Dorothy Evelyn Hines

Warwick - HINES, Dorothy E. (Moriarty), 86, died Monday September 10, 2007 at Scalabrini Villa Health Care Center. She was the wife of the late John F. Hines. Born in New York, NY, she was the daughter of the late Jeremiah and Elizabeth (Dooley) Moriarty. She graduated from St. Patrick's Cathedral High School and worked in New York City prior to her marriage. Living in Europe for several years with her husband and young family, she was integral in her husband's success as a foreign representative for Brown & Sharpe Manufacturing Company. She returned to the United States in 1959, settling in Warwick. Upon her husband's retirement she moved to Florida, and returned to Warwick after his death. Following a debilitating stroke in 1999 she became a resident of Scalabrini Villa, where she was loved and admired by the staff and other residents for her feisty and independent spirit. She is survived by her son John and wife Susan of South Kingstown; her daughter Janine and husband Peter of Bensalem, PA as well as five grandchildren, John, Sarah, Thomas, Meghan, and Christopher and three great grandchildren, Emerson, Jack, and Sawyer. She was the sister of the late Gerard Moriarty. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday September 22nd at 11:00am in St. Gregory the Great Church, 360 Cowesett Road, Warwick, where she was a founding member. Interment will be private. Calling hours are respectfully omitted.
