

CranstonEdward J. Lynch, Jr., Esq., 47, of Scenic Drive, died peacefully Monday at Roger Williams Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Born in Providence, he was a son of Evelyn M. (Durkin) Lynch of Cranston, and the late Edward J. Lynch Sr. Eddie was the Pension Administrator for the City of Providence for the past twenty years, retiring recently due to illness. Raised in the Edgewood section of Cranston, he was a 1979 graduate of Cranston East High School. He continued his undergraduate education at Bryant University, and graduated from Suffolk University Law School. Active in many civic and community organizations, Eddie was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Cranston Council, the Irish Ceilidhe Club of Rhode Island, the Ireland 32 Society, and was a volunteer for the Rhode Island Special Olympics and the Cranston Center for Retarded Citizens for many years. One of his greatest joys was his involvement in planning the annual Smith Hill Saint Patrick Day Parade, a cause he devoted his time to for over twenty years, serving in various capacities. Beside his mother Evelyn, he leaves three brothers, Paul V. Lynch of South Kingstown, Michael F. Lynch and his wife Frances of Narragansett, John J. Lynch and his wife Elizabeth of North Providence; two sisters, Mary Lynch of Cranston, Paula Downing and her husband James, also of Cranston, and thirteen nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held Friday, at 9:30 am, from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in Saint Mark Church, Garden City, Cranston. Burial will be in Saint Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours Thursday, 3 - 8 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to Cranston Arc Recreation Fund, c/o Development Office, 111 Comstock Parkway, Cranston, RI 02921 in his memory will be appreciated.
