

Elizabeth (Vitacolonna) Salvatore, 86, of Lubec Street, Providence, passed away peacefully December 23, 2022. She was the beloved wife to the late Robert V. Salvatore, Sr. and daughter of the late George and Elizabeth (McConnell) Vitacolonna.
She was the loving mother of Robert V. Salvatore, Jr. and his wife Naomi, Donald J. Salvatore and David A. Salvatore and his wife Darlene and cherished grandmother of David, Nicholas, Emma, Alexander and Christopher. She was also the sister of Mary Jane Edmonson and the late John Vitacolonna.
Betty, as she was known by her family and friends, was a Registered Nurse who spent more than 50 years helping others. She began her career at Rhode Island Hospital, also worked at Fatima Hospital as a Nurse Supervisor, worked for the Providence School Department, and finished her career with the Providence Health Centers. She provided sound nursing advice to family and friends and always had a suture removal kit at home for anyone who needed her services.
She cherished each and every one of her grandchildren, attending their sporting events, cooking and baking their favorites meals, and spending many wonderful times on their sailboat with family and friends. She had a beautiful spirt and a wonderfully positive attitude that helped her navigate many health challenges over the years.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4-7 PM in the PONTARELLI-MARINO FUNERAL HOME, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday at 11:00 AM in St. Edward Church, 997 Branch Avenue, Providence. Burial will be private.
